Confined Space
A fully compliant confined space program built for industrial employers in BC and Alberta—delivering complete competency with less downtime and a streamlined blended learning process.
Description
Audience: New entrants and rectifying students
Validity: 3 years
Course Description
This program is designed to meet the needs of industrial employers: regulatory compliance, strong worker competency, and minimal disruption to operations. Workers receive the same depth of instruction and the same practical skill development expected from a traditional full-day confined space course—without the heavy interruption that comes from spending full days in a classroom.
The course covers the complete confined space workflow, including identification, classification, roles, hazard assessment, atmospheric testing, controls, emergency procedures, and entry planning. Training modules include:
- Importance of Confined Space Training
- Restricted vs. Confined Spaces and Operational Roles
- Hazard Assessment and Hazard Controls
- Atmospheric Hazards and Testing Procedures
- Confined Space Classification Levels
- Entry Planning, Emergency Response, and Rescue Planning
How the Blended Training Model Works
- Register for the course.
- Receive an email with access to the online portion (participants should check junk/spam).
- Complete the online theory before attending the practical training session.
- Arrive for practical training and complete a short written test first.
- Maintains assessment integrity
- Eliminates the need for webcams or online-proctored exams
- Complete the full (30 minute) practical training and assessment—identical to the practical portion delivered in a traditional in-class course.
- Receive certification upon successful completion.
Employer Benefits
- Workers spend significantly less time away from the job.
- Training quality and delivery are standardized across crews and locations.
- Practical training remains unchanged from the full-day course, ensuring true, verifiable competency.
- Easier scheduling: workers complete theory independently and only attend a focused practical session.
Employee Benefits
- Learn theory at their own pace with better comprehension and retention.
- Avoid long classroom days and fatigue.
- Gain full hands-on experience with monitoring equipment, testing procedures, and entry preparation.
- Receive recognized certification accepted across BC and Alberta.
A Real Example of This Delivery Method
Traditionally, a worker completing Intermediate First Aid, H2S Alive, Fall Protection, and Confined Space would spend five full days in training.
With the blended model, the same worker completes all theory online and finishes all four practical assessments in just two days.
Same content. Same certification. Less than half the interruption.
